Artists Statement
I am passionate about my chosen art form. I love the
surprise and unpredictability of the Polaroid image and emulsion transfer
process. There is always a high level of anticipation when lifting the negative
from the water color paper or silk.
My photographs represent my views of the sacred. Children, landscapes,
wide, open spaces, horses communicating with each other, religious icons
& shrines; I document with my camera and convert the images into
the dreamy quality of an image transfer.
I'm especially drawn to the images of the 'Virgen de Guadalupe' & the
Sacred Heart Marys. I think their message & symbolism go far beyond
the religion they are allied with. For me, the images of Mary are full of
possibilities. Being a mother holds the possibility of tremendous spiritual
growth, challenges for great joy & great sorrow, the opportunity to
love unconditionally. I give considerable thought to framing with the addition
of silk and linen, and painted nichos. I want to communicate the ideas of
expansive love.
I exhibit my work & teach Polaroid Image Transfer Workshops in
several states. Visit my Adelante! Gallery/Studio in the Historic Paseo
Arts District in OKC., OK.
