“An artist cannot paint without transferring her soul to the canvas. When someone asks... ’What do you do?’ The answer is, ‘It’s not so much what I do, but who I am. ’Being an artist encompasses everything in my life...how I look at everything...’is it cool, is it warm, wow, those values are great...and I wish I had my easel so I could paint.’ It’s about transferring the emotion, the fleeting feeling of the moment, the animal’s personality to the canvas, and to make it exciting and passionate. Then, the ultimate compliment is when a patron looks at the painting, and feels, a part of that inspiration. “
"I discovered painting at age 45. Life is a journey, and there are processes that all need to experience to become who we are. We need to learn how to trust our path and to follow with conviction. Painting is a process, that unlocks the true “inner-self’ a process that allows me to become who I am. I have studied almost exclusively with painters who are from the Russian Impressionist lineage. Russian Impressionism vibrates with color, texture, vitality and passion. This lineage all started with Ilya Repin, passed down through the years by numerous painters, one most notable being Sergei Bongart. I am very fortunate to be studying with Guido Frick, a student of Sergei’s, a student who is now a Master and teaches the soul, the power, and the heart of Russian Impressionism. It is my goal to be a part of that lineage, and to pass to others what I have been so fortunate to have learned."
